At Fine Fettle, we believe that the cannabis industry should stand for fairness, opportunity, and second chances. That’s why we’re proud to partner with the Last Prisoner Project (LPP), a nonprofit dedicated to freeing individuals still incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses and helping them rebuild their lives.
For too long, people have been punished for the same plant that now fuels a thriving legal industry. This is especially true for those from marginalized communities. The LPP is working to right those wrongs through legal intervention, reentry support, and policy reform. Their mission perfectly aligns with our belief that no one should sit behind bars for something that’s legal in our dispensaries.
What Is the Last Prisoner Project?
The Last Prisoner Project is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit organization focused on repairing the harms of the War on Drugs and fighting for the freedom of every person still incarcerated for cannabis.
As legalization expands, tens of thousands of people remain imprisoned for acts that are no longer crimes. Founded by justice-impacted individuals, legal experts, and reform advocates, LPP is driven by a simple belief:
No one should remain in prison for cannabis.
The organization has built a movement of lawyers, advocates, and volunteers working across three areas:
- Legal Intervention: Through its Cannabis Justice Initiative, the LPP provides direct legal aid to people still serving time for cannabis.
- Policy Reform: The LPP’s policy team has helped pass dozens of laws that have resulted in mass pardons and expungements across 31 states. Hundreds of thousands of people have been given a clean slate.
- Reentry Support: Freedom is just the beginning. The LPP’s Support Fund has distributed over $3.5 million in commissary payments, family support grants, and reentry stipends to help individuals rebuild their lives after incarceration.
They fight for freedom, but also for dignity, fairness, and opportunity.
Why Our Dispensary Stands with Them
For us at Fine Fettle, supporting the Last Prisoner Project isn’t a marketing move — it’s a moral one.
We exist in a legal cannabis space that wouldn’t be possible without the sacrifices, resilience, and advocacy of those who came before us. Many were criminalized for the very same plant that now fuels our business and livelihoods.
Justice means ensuring that progress lifts everyone. That’s why our locations proudly support the LPP through register donations and awareness campaigns.
At Fine Fettle, we’re proud to partner with Connecticut Social Equity applicants through Equity Joint Ventures (EJVs). These collaborations create real opportunities in communities disproportionately affected by the war on drugs.
At least 50% of each EJV is owned and controlled by local social-equity entrepreneurs, helping to build generational wealth and expand diverse ownership in the cannabis industry. By supporting EJVs, we’re not only growing our business responsibly—we’re helping create a more inclusive, community-rooted cannabis.
The Holiday Letter Drive: Small Gestures, Big Impact
This holiday season, we’re joining the LPP in their 7th Annual Holiday Letter Drive — a campaign that invites supporters to send handwritten messages of hope to those still incarcerated for cannabis.
Your letter is a lifeline. It reminds someone behind bars that they’re not forgotten, that we’re fighting for them, and that they have a community that cares.
“A simple letter can lift spirits, restore hope, and remind our incarcerated friends that they’re not alone.” — Last Prisoner Project
Over the past few years, supporters have sent more than 22,000 letters to incarcerated individuals. Let’s make that number grow even higher this year.
👉 Visit lastprisonerproject.org/holiday to write your message today. It only takes a few minutes, and you can even do it from your phone.

A Shared Mission of Justice and Compassion
Fine Fettle and the Last Prisoner Project share a vision of a world where cannabis isn’t a cause for punishment but a path toward healing, connection, and opportunity.
This holiday season, as we gather with our families and friends, let’s remember those still waiting for freedom. Together, we can help right the wrongs of the past — one letter, one donation, one act of compassion at a time.
Join us. Let’s fight for freedom, justice, and humanity — for every last prisoner.
